Date Night Ideas in Kent, WA
Valentine’s Day is coming up this weekend, but date night ideas are a valuable commodity all year round, and can be used whenever you want. Quite a few things are still closed at the moment, but that doesn’t mean there’s not options for a special night with a significant other right here in our own local area.
A Walk in a Park
A walk in a park with a partner can be a lovely way to spend time whether it’s night or day, and our Kent neighborhood has plenty of beautiful parks to choose from! Take in the scenery and get some fresh air, arm-in-arm with a loved one. We even have some excellent park suggestions for you to keep in mind. For instance, Clark Lake Park is a gorgeous lakeside vista with trails and even art installations, only four minutes away from home. Mill Creek Canyon Earthworks Park is only five minutes from us, and includes a walking trail and a fascinating landscape sculpture by Bauhaus artist Herbert Bayer. Finally, Morrill Meadows Park is another lovely option for taking in some natural sights, is also five minutes from our community here from Bower Village, and even has a dog park if you want to take a furry friend along with you on the trip!
It may currently be hard to catch a new flick in an indoor theater, but the movies have always been a staple of date nights, and that tradition continues. Rodeo Drive-In Theater is in Bremerton, WA, and has showings at different points throughout the year, including both new and older movies. They have both a website and an active Facebook that updates with when they’re opening back up for showings, as well as the schedule and what films are slated to be put on! They’re also only around a fifteen minute drive from our community. Next time they’re open, maybe you and a loved one could drive on down and take in a movie date in the old-fashioned way; snuggled up in the car.
Making Dinner at Home
Going out is great, but there’s also really something to be said about a quiet, intimate date night at home. You could even do this in conjunction with the other suggestions; a walk in the park, make and eat dinner, and then catch a show at the drive-in. Cooking with your loved ones is a warm, comforting ritual, and there’s something fun about splitting the tasks up and trying to make something new (or an old favorite, if preferred). Choose what you want to make in advance, get the ingredients a day or two ahead of time, and then get some music playing and cook together. It’ll make the fruits of your labor that much sweeter.
Happy Valentine’s Day, residents! And remember; love is there all year round, not just on holidays about it. You can try to make a night special anytime you want.
